I bought a complete V belt type pulley kit, which included alternator and power steering pump, so I have the pump if I wish to convert. I guess I can just leave the pump off and try it with manual steering First. I was hoping there was a power box that fitted in place of the manual one, rather than the 'assist' type
GTp heads are basically GT 40 heads with smaller combustion chambers and of course the angled plugs. The intakes changed after 97 and the newer ones do not have the internal EGR passage. So, to make your EGR function you will need to get a '97 or older intake. You will also have to drill and tap a hole for the IAT sensor.

Those look like the bend in the tubes will fit the spark plug angles of the P heads. There was a guy that had about 5 set of Shelby type Tri Y headers for I believe it was the 64-68 mustang with P heads. But I bought the last set from him so I don't think he has anymore. I have GT40p heads with an E303 cam with factory roller lifters and stock fulcrum rocker arms. My heads had .005" or .010" taken off them and I utilized a .040" compressed head gasket. The springs were set up at 110#'s on the seat and around 300#'s with room enough to support up to a .550" cam before coil bind.
The GT40 & GT40P heads had a few noteworthy differences, the most important being the bump in compression as previously mentioned. The engine has iron GT40 heads (not the GT40P's), an MSD 6 box and a Ford DuraSpark distributor and an Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb. Not sure of the C/R or cam specs but appears to have a pretty decent cam. I set the initial timing at idle (w/ vacuum advance disconnected and vacuum line plugged) to 12 degrees with engine at normal operating temp.
